Message from the Secretary

The Libertarian Party of Brevard County continues to see some exciting events happening in local politics.  David Hobbs, a dues-paying member of the LPB, will be running for Florida House of Representatives District 32.  He will be speaking to us at our monthly business meeting on October 28 (see calendar).  Be sure to come out to hear a political candidate speak on the issues from a Libertarian perspective!

Operation Bootstrap continues to bring new members to the Libertarian Party statewide.  Here in Brevard County, we have managed to pick up quite a few new members as a result of this effort.

Want to help promote the Libertarian Party of Brevard County's presence?  Volunteer for the Adopt-A-Highway effort on October 24.  We'll be meeting in front of Brevard Community College (BCC) at 7:00 AM for a safety briefing before picking up litter along Clearlake Road.  This quarterly activity keeps our signs up along that road and lets people know that there is a Libertarian Party active in their area!

Finally, see the sidebar for an important announcement regarding our continuing efforts to gather e-mail addresses of local Libertarians.  If you have e-mail access but are getting this newsletter by hardcopy, we want your e-mail address!  Giving us your e-mail address means we can send you this newsletter over the Internet, saving us some much-needed funds and making your access to our announcements instant!

Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup
October 24 Sunday 7:00 AM
Rise and shine! This is your chance to help the LPB keep its presence via road signs on Clearlake Road in Cocoa. Let's meet in front of the Brevard Community College (BCC) Student Center, 1519 Clearlake Rd, Cocoa (632-1111) for a safety briefing before heading out onto the road shoulders for trash pickup. Given the number of businesses along this stretch of highway that clean up their own curbs, keeping this area litter-free should be a snap.

Brevard Libertarian Candidate Speaks!
October 28 Thursday 6:00 PM
The LPB will conduct its monthly business meeting at Perkins Family Restaurant, 8200 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne (752-5200).  We have an exciting speaker: David Hobbs, dues-paying member of the LPB, will explain his candidacy for Florida House of Representatives District 32!  He'll talk to us about what kinds of legislation he will propose (or squash) once he's in office.  Don't miss this enticing event!  We'll also have some fantastic door prize drawings!
