Government Issue?

Are you a free person, or are you government issue?

Do you belong to yourself, or do you belong to the government?

A look at a few issues will deduce the answer.

Abortion:

Legally, the unborn is not the dependent of the parents. The parents do not get dependent tax credits for unborn potentials that are not legally recognized as citizens with Constitutional rights. Parents have legitimate child rearing expenses because of the unborn. There are prenatal medical expenses, birthing preparation expenses, and there are housing, clothing, and care preparatory expenses. If your child is born in January you are "simply outta luck" (SOL). You get no dependent tax credits for the prenatal care of your child. The unborn child is not legally your dependent. The government will not grant you your rights for having a dependent if the "dependent" is yet unborn! Will the government force any responsibilities on you in the "name" of the unborn "dependent"? Making any abortions illegal without recognizing both the legal rights of the unborn and the dependent rights of the parents of the unborn may be nothing but hypocrisy by the government. How can the government

on the one hand, say you have no rights because the unborn does not have dependent status
and on the other hand, say you do have responsibilities because the unborn is your dependent?

The answer is simple: You and the unborn are the property of the government. You are not free people! You do not have the right to make your own decisions. The government will force its decisions on you.

Right to Die:

If you were a free person legally allowed to make decisions for yourself, you would be allowed to terminate your life with dignity. Death is inevitable for all of us. We all have our own demise to experience in the future. For some, it will entail physical suffering while the nest egg you hoped your grandchildren would inherit is pilfered by the medical establishment to prolong suffering while postponing the inevitable. Not everybody wishes to have his terminal suffering unnaturally prolonged by modern medical means. How come only people who cite a religious aversion to all unnatural medical means have the right to die of natural causes without having their grandchildren's inheritance pilfered by the American Medical Association (AMA)? Why can't all people decide that they will not be kept alive beyond their natural limit? Why can't all persons decide that they would like their pain and suffering eased as they face their ultimate demise? Why must people suffer against their wishes at the expense of their grandchildren?

For some people, their terminal suffering only stops when they die, or when their money runs out, whichever comes first. Indeed, when your money runs out, the AMA itself will pull the plug on you. As long as you have money, they have hope. When they have taken all of your grandchildren's inheritance, then they have no more hope and they leave you to die. If the AMA would keep doing the unnatural things to you to keep you alive when you no longer had money, then they may have an ethical argument. Their heroic efforts to prolong your terminal suffering are only there so they can take your grandchildren's inheritance. How come you do not have the right to die with dignity? The answer is simple: You are the property of the government. You are not a free person! You do not have the right to make your own decisions. The government will force its decisions on you.

Social Security:

How come the government will not let you manage the money taken from your employer because of your labor in the name of your retirement?

The story goes like this: People will not save for their retirement. The people could lose their money if they invested it. Right now, 15% of your salary is taken from your employer for Social Security. That is so much taken that there is little left for the average person to save and invest in other ways. The result: Because of Social Security, people are not able to save and invest for their retirement. With the government managing Social Security, all Americans have already lost their money that was invested for their retirement. People today do not get back from Social Security what they would have gotten back had they invested the money themselves. Today, people pay in more to Social Security and expect to get back even less. Because of Social Security withholding, there is less invested in our economy. Social Security takes money out of our economy. Social Security causes people to be unable to save for their retirement. Social Security causes people to lose the money they have put toward their retirement.

Why won't the government let people manage their own money? The answer is simple: You are the property of the government. You are not a free person! You do not have the right to make your own decisions. The government will force its decisions on you.

Medicinal Marijuana:

Marijuana has medicinal properties that help many conditions, including lung diseases! Marijuana is safer than many prescription drugs now available. Marijuana is safer than alcohol or tobacco. How come the government is against people being allowed to take advantage of the medicinal benefits of marijuana? Marijuana also has many ecological benefits. Marijuana would be a better substitute for many other uses besides medicinal ones.

Why won't the government allow people to decide for themselves if they wish to use marijuana medicinally, or for other manufacturing purposes? The answer is simple: you are the property of the government. You are not a free person! You do not have the right to make your own decisions. The government will force its decisions on you.

Recreational Drugs:

Many of you probably thought that the "pursuit of happiness" was a Constitutional guarantee. You also probably thought a man's home was his castle, and the privacy of his home was also guaranteed.

When A.C. Doyle wrote his Sherlock Holmes books, his original Holmes was not perfect. The original Holmes was a heroin addict. Drugs were legal than and the cost did not drive people to crime to support their habit. Holmes could support his heroin habit and still do a top notch job. But Holmes was a fictional character! Still, the audience of the day believed that a heroin addict could responsibly do as good a job as Holmes.

Mayor Marion Barry of Washington D.C. smoked crack. He still did the job of mayor.  People did not have a problem with his ability to do his job. He even got reelected after it was known he had used crack while doing his duties.

Why do we have "Pursuit of Happiness" drug laws? The answer is simple: Illegal drugs provide tons of money for the corrupt persons to whom our government caters. The laws make the costs of drugs tremendous and drives otherwise responsible people "like Sherlock Holmes" to crime. The laws create conditions that give the Mafia a constant supply of pawns and prostitutes. The laws also give the government a weapon to use on of those it chooses to oppress, and a vehicle to reward those it wishes to reward. The government also can now take from the people without due process. With a bottom line of such profits for the corrupt it is no wonder the government has banned the pursuit of happiness in the privacy of your own home.

Why are you not free to pursue happiness in the privacy of your own home, as you conceive it? The answer is simple: You are the property of the government. You are not a free person! You do not have the right to make your own decisions. The government will force its decisions on you.
